Sensitive Template for ONT Road Project
Sensitive Template for ONT Road Project In March of 2013, the Williamson County Highway Department started cutting down trees on the Old Natchez Trace at Old Town. Calls to the county confirmed that the ONT was going to be widened and many trees were marked to be taken in the process. Citizens started tying green poster board signs, saying HELP SAVE THE OLD NATCHEZ TRACE, WE WANT IT PAVED IN PLACE, NOT ERASED, to the trees marked with orange paint. Our community rallied to save the tree canopy and scenic beauty of this ancient road. We asked county officials to adopt a sensitive template for road improvements….and we are very grateful to the county highway commission and highway department for hearing our voices and preserving the Old Natchez Trace for future generations.
